Biography

Carol has over three and half decades of experience working in numerous healthcare authorities across British Columbia. Her career has spanned various disciplines, in particular critical care nursing with a focus on cardiovascular care. She holds a PhD in Human Development and is interested in qualitative interpretive inquiry utilizing phenomenology to understand patient illness perceptions.

Presently, in her role as a consultant, she provides clinical expertise from program planning and development through to implementation of health care service delivery models in the acute care system.  Carol is aware of operational challenges faced by all clinical stakeholders, including physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals and through her work aims to achieve a more robust patient and family centered care approach.

Some of her career highlights include the successful implementation of British Columbia’s fifth full service cardiac program, inclusive of cardiac surgery at Kelowna General Hospital. Prior to this, she led the successful development and implementation of one of the first in Canada same day transfer programs following cardiac angioplasty at Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster. Through these initiatives, Carol honed her skills in systems thinking, developing program infrastructure, and developing interdisciplinary teams.

Carol lives with her husband along with her French bulldog in Kelowna. She has two adult children and in her spare time enjoys exploring the beautiful landscapes of the Okanagan.
